Minnesota Trip
I went up to my sister’s this weekend. She lives close to a small town called Pequot Lakes, which is north of Brainerd, MN. Way up north! Her house and land is beautiful! I plan on having my Nikon the next time I am there, I was pretty upset that I only took my Cannon point-and-shoot. I mainly took snapshots of the family and a few pictures of the property to show friends and family have haven’t been there yet. I was able to take a couple nice images that I will edit and print. Below is one of shots that I liked.
This little pond is just over the edge of my sister’s property. It’s one of those places that will produce gorgeous images all year around. Can’t wait to go back!!

If I could keep one print
One of the artists that has inspired me over the last few years is John Paul Caponigro. His work is excellent and having met him at Bradley while I was still in school was a very cool experience. I read his blog on a regular basis, and in one of the last posts he made he posed a very interesting question. If you could only keep one of your prints which one would it be? (Check out the article here)
This is an extremely difficult question to answer. But after some thought I believe that this is the image that I would keep:

Why? Well, “It’s where I’m From.” (One of my new favorite songs by Jason Michael Carrol) This picture does not really represent where I’m from, but I believe that it does reflect who I am. This picture was taken from my Father’s cabin in Wisconsin. One of my favorite places on God’s great Earth. It is not a technically complicated image, but is extremely simple and show the beauty of a calm morning on the lake.

More Northwoods Prints Ready
I have finished up a few more prints from the Northwoods prints. I have printed a few of these as well. My favorite is the double print. The Cabin and the Creek are printed 6in x 24in one on top of the other on a 13in x 26in sheet of paper. Check out the Northwoods Prints page to see all of the prints from the Northwoods.
I have also made some very minor updates to the site, and am planning on adding a lot more of my past work very shortly. I will also be adding some galleries and eventually I will add an online check to order prints.

Very Behind on Photography
I can’t seem to figure out where all of my time has been going lately. But I feel like I am very behind on my photography. The video below is other item from the trip to the northwoods last month and is part of my on going time lapse experiments. More to come:

Northwoods Trip First Pass
I haven’t had much time to working on editing yet. I spent the last few days up in the the northwoods in Michigan. We did a lot of snowmobiling and had a great time. I managed to get some time to take some great images. Not nearly as many I should have but I have some good ones. This image is the first pass at an edit of the creek from the bridge, in HDR. The final should be a very nice print. More to come…

Cold Lake Michigan

The lake looked pretty awesome this morning at 6:30am, but around 9:00am when I finally got out to it, the height of the steam had come down and the sun was up high enough that the red color was gone. The above image is one that I took this morning. Didn’t take very many due to the fact that the autofocus ring started freezing.

Keep on Creating
A very good friend of mine always reminds me that “No matter what, you have to keep on creating.” When I stop creating, and I let the creative block start building I find a lot of reasons to avoid it. In an effort to keep on creating, I spent some time tonight editing an old photograph.
I took this image on the top of Breckenridge Mountain in Colorado. One of my favorite places to ski / snowboard. For a long time as a kid I had wanted to climb to the peak. In 2007 while on a trip with my father and one of my best friends, I decided to make that hike (with my D200 and tripod), for better or worse, I ended up with some pretty nice images. This is one (with a little PS work).

Another Star Time Lapse
Get the Flash Player to see this player.
Pat (my brother-in-law) and I shot a new star time lapse and Pat has been working on some music composing which we added to this clip. Check out his site at: Conversation of the Spheres
So the idea of time lapse has been something that I’ve been interested in for a while now. But one thing that really pushed me into it even more was seeing Ross Ching’s Eclectic 2.0 (http://rossching.com/eclectic-20) which is just amazing.
The star time lapse seems to me to be the place to start because it is the hardest to capture. And with it being winter now, the sky seems much clearer. This is going to be a continuous process of learning and growth.
I’ll keep posting as I have new items.
Check out the page dedicated to the Time Lapse project here.
